Our history is the way to understand

During the ancient Egypt period, cats were honored as sacred animals. The Sun God Ra was immortalized on Pyramid’s and other temple’s walls like a cat. The cat was a marriage patron and was associated with a Moon Goddess.

Celts believe that long time ago these mystical animals where humans, that were punished because of evil deeds and turned into cats.

Especially strongly and in a negative way cats associated with witchcraft in medieval Europe, during the “Reign of Terror” period. From the religion history pages of the North France we can get to know about the “Cat Wednesday” in the city of Metz, where hundreds cats were burnt in the reason for being disguised witches. In XVI-XVIII centuries thousands cats, lived in Great Britain, Germany and France, were tortured with their unfortunate humans, before buried alive or being burnt.

In addition, from the England history, we could get in touch with Charles I of England life, who believed that his cat was brought him luck and well-being. However,after cat death, he said that he would never happy again. After one day have passed,Cromwell’s persons arrested Charles I of England. Few month later, he was put to death.

All these mythical historical lines build in our modern minds association with a witchcraft.We used to believe that cats associated with witchcraft and these cats are a part of witch spell, because each magician or witch had a cat, specially the black cats. That is a whole different story, people think black cats are sign of bad luck.  So we saying that as each magician or witch had a cat companion that serves like a guide between the World of Living and Death.

How cats effect on people’s life today

Time has passed but still we do believe that cats associated with witchcraft and cats bring in their hearts small parts of a mythical world by helping us, protecting from a misfortune, or harming people in a different ways. In our modern hi-tech world, cats still could forecast visitors to our home, can tell us about the weather, treat our physical and psychological pain, and defend us from negative occasions. We still believe in signs, and cat’s independence convince us that these animals have something mythical in their eyes.

Black Cat and Bad luck

The first of these myths which was very predominant when I was a kid is that black cats are actually harbingers of bad lucks and omens. Now, this should be the most universal myths about cats. But it is a two way thing. There are some societies that believe that black cats are harbingers of bad luck, while other societies are of the belief that they come with the best of lucks. This myth plays a very predominant role in the level of acceptance and rejection that the black things enjoy. For those who believe it is of the bad side of luck, they will do a lot of cleansing if they are to meet the cat early in the morning, as they believe it will put the day in the bad light. Cats and Witches

The next myth about cats is that which says that cats are used by witches and wizards for their operations. This is mostly associated with the nature of the eyes and the colors. This even lingered to the extent that some men will not like their children to see the eyes of a cat before they go to bed, as they believe it might lead them to attacks at night. They believe that if the children sight the eyes of the cat before they go to bed, they will have bad dreams where witches and wizards will attack them.

Veterinary care for cats

The next is the myth that there is nothing like veterinary care for cats. The truth about it is that this myth is still held very high in most of the underdeveloped nations. Do not get it twisted, this is not because of poverty (because dogs are taken care of), they believe that cats do not need such care. For them, there is nothing to treat. Cats cannot be treated because they will always heal on their own. This might also be because of the fact that cats are so good in living with illnesses without showing it.

Cats are wicked and antisocial myths about cats

This is a myth that still exists among people who have never owned or had the company of cats in the past. People like this believe that because of the perceived aggressive nature of the cat, it is aloof and very distant from humans. This myth perhaps is among the freshest of myths. This is the reason why many of such people find it very difficult to believe that people actually use cats as pets and sleep on the same bed with cats. People do not believe that cats can form a bond with their owners and enjoy a lot of interaction with them.

Cats infect their owners with diseases

It was a one of the myths about cats in the past to some people that cats should never be brought close to human beings. These lots are of the belief that the little thing will infect them with some of the numerous diseases it carries. Many people actually believe that toxoplasmosis is the number one disease that a cat will give people living in the same roof with it. In my area, the belief is that cat is a very dangerous carrier of asthma, and that if you dare have any close relationship with the cat; you are more than 80 percent likely to get the disease.

The Black cat is not a specific breed in the cat family. It’s often a mixed breed. It’s a feline with black fur. It often showcases in diverse sizes. Some black cats are big while others look tiny or small. One of the most popular kinds of black cats is known as the Bombay. Its body is completely black. It can be a male or female cat. It usually has piercing golden eyes.

In such cultures, the black cat is often regarded as a symbol of bad luck especially when it crosses someone’s path. It’s seen as a sign of impending doom, death or misfortune.
• In Germany, most people believe that once a black cat crosses from your left to right, it’s simply a big sign of ill omen. However, if the cat crosses from your right to left, it’s simply a sign of favor or good tidings.
• The black cat is also considered as bad luck in the western casino or gambling niche. If you’re traveling to a casino and suddenly a black cat crosses your way, you’ll lose all your game that very day. Most players refused to gamble once they see black cats crossing their way as they travel to casino.
• Black cats are often seen as agents of demons, Satan, witches and wizard in several regions across the globe. Such cats are said to be having deadly supernatural powers.

Why People See Black Cat as Bad Luck

From the expositions above, it’s very clear that black cat has always been seen as back luck in various cultures. There are possible reasons for this belief. Here are some points to note:

• The black color is often associated with ill omen. Hence, black cats are considered as signs of bad luck or bad omen because of their black colors. They usually appear ugly anywhere they are seen.
• Evil and witchcraft are often painted in black. The Devil or Satan is always painted in black. Hence, black cats are equally associated with such ugly phenomena.
